CHAPTER 06/EAST AFRICA

Uganda

Mid-July 2026Upcoming

Uganda pulses with young energy. The average age here is sixteen, and the creativity is extraordinary. From Kampala's maker spaces to rural cooperatives, young Ugandans are building solutions that honour community while embracing innovation. We'll partner with The Washing Machine Project, youth justice organisations, and social enterprises to collect stories of resilience, ingenuity, and the quiet determination of people who refuse to wait for permission to build a better life.

Reflections

Navjot showed us the washing machine prototype. Pure genius, built for dignity. When he talks about co-design, you realise this is what empathy looks like in practice.

The energy in Kampala is infectious. Young people building things, solving problems, refusing to wait for permission. This is innovation at its most human.
